De Banjaard

The beach in Noord-Beveland is one of the cleanest beaches in the Netherlands. From the beach there is a beautiful view of the Oosterscheldekering, is the largest of the thirteen ambitious Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers, designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea. As a result, the beach has a high number of visitors. In 2018, Juust developed a vision for the area around the beach on behalf of the municipality and in collaboration with local authorities, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. Experience and local DNA were the main ingredients of this vision, which was expanded with measures to improve the experience and accessibility of the beach.

Spontaneous 'elephant paths'

Juust was partly inspired in the design of the area by the spontaneous ‘elephant paths’. A playful footpath takes beach visitors from the car park to the beach entrance. Juust chose MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking boards as the material for this project. The matching benches were fitted with bamboo beams from the same collection. The photos were taken when the bamboo materials were exposed to the weather for six months and the first greying is visible.
