MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding is a solid, High Density^® exterior bamboo board, made from compressed bamboo strips. A unique heat treatment/compression process provides Bamboo X-treme^® with the highest durability class possible in the appropriate EU norms, increases the stability and density, and consequently the hardness. This makes it suitable for very demanding applications.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on this planet and is an abundantly available building material. Almost all solid MOSO^® Bamboo Products have a negative carbon footprint during the product lifespan and are therefore the sustainable alternative to non-renewable materials and scarce tropical hardwood.

Beautifully sustainable façade solution

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding boards are made from the fast growing Moso bamboo, a rapidly renewable resource that not only grows very fast (up to 1 meter a day!) but does not result in deforestation as the plant does not die once the stems have been harvested. Like any wood species, after outdoor exposure, Bamboo X-treme^® will turn grey over time. A beautiful, natural look will appear providing an elegant appearance.

After installation, facades with Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding do not require any periodic maintenance at all, which results in huge time and cost savings. Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding withstands temperature changes with hardly any shrinking and swelling. Thanks to the extremely high stability, the boards will stay flat and in place unlike other natural materials. The original characteristics of the material rival the best hardwoods. Just like all hardwoods, bamboo turns grey over time, creating an attractive natural look.

Fire safety without fire retardants

Contrary to other wood products, MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding reaches fire safety Class B-s1-d0 (EN 13501-1) and Class A (ASTM E84). This makes it applicable for buildings with stringent fire safety requirements like apartments, commercial buildings and gas stations, while giving a beautiful natural appearance to the facade.

Easy installation and maintenance-free

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding is available in different versions, which can be installed with clips, screws or the Grad installation system. Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding profiles trapezium and closed can be installed with screws. The rebated or rhombus profile can be installed easily and quickly with MOSO^® Clips. With these special clips, MOSO^® offers a complete and sustainable solution for natural and attractive façades. For quick and easy installation on the Grad system MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® is available in different widths and as a closed profile. The cladding requires no periodic maintenance and will naturally age, though the brown colour can also be maintained with an outdoor maintenance oil.

The fastest growing cladding

As we see more and more building façades being created with non-renewable materials, our belief in bamboo as the construction material of the future grows. Moso bamboo stems, which are used for MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding, are mature after just 4-5 years. After harvesting, the bamboo plant does not die and no deforestation takes place. On the contrary, the rhizome sprouts new stems even faster. Due to this, bamboo can be harvested annually and a bamboo forest is sustainable and fair trade by default. MOSO^® Bamboo Products are the sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood and non-renewable materials.

Rebated profile for installation with MOSO^® Fasteners

The MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Rebated profile is a standard cladding product for installation with MOSO’s Asymmetrical Fasteners. The Rebated profile is available in two different dimensions: 137×18 and 75×18 mm, both can be combined in the same installation. Alternatively, the Rhombus profile can also be installed with hidden MOSO^® Fasteners. The Rhombus profile leave less space between the board creating a different appearance of a façade.

Trapezium profile for screwed installation

For traditional installation with screws, the MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Trapezium Cladding profile is the right solution. A 5 to 6 mm space must be maintained between the boards to ensure correct ventilation. Three different Trapezium profiles are available: 137×18, 75×18 and 75×12 mm, all of which can be combined in a façade design to create a 3D effect, or with different board widths.

A trend throughout the cladding industry is the use of boards or slats in different widths to create a stunning, playful façade. Accurate and easy installation with the Grad system

Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding profiles are available to fit the Grad installation system. The Grad installation system is a patented and unique solution to install Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding fast and easy on aluminium rails with hidden and demountable clips; a system that allows for very detailed lines in a design. Installation on the Grad system makes the facade cladding circular and future-proof, since the cladding boards and installation system can be easily separated and recycled.

Closed cladding to meet the highest fire requirements

MOSO^® has developed Bamboo X-treme^® Closed Cladding in order to meet the most demanding requirements in terms of fire certification. Bamboo X-treme^® Cladding reaches fire safety Class B-s1-d0 (EN 13501-1) and Class A (ASTM E84); this exceptional fire safety is obtained without impregnation of expensive and environmentally-damaging fire retardants. By using the Bamboo X-treme^® Closed Cladding for your project, there is another advantage in terms of fire resistance: it offers a Class B-s1-d0 (EN 13501-1) certification for the entire installation system (screwed or with the Grad system).

Vintage colour: natural aged look

MOSO^® Bamboo X-treme^® Closed Cladding is available in a Vintage colour. This colour gives the cladding boards a beautiful grey appearance, similar to the natural weathered grey look of Bamboo X-treme^®. It will provide the entire façade with a more homogenous appearance as the boards naturally age. It is not necessary to reapply the Vintage colour to the cladding boards. This new colour is available with the Closed profile in three different widths: 137, 100 and 65 mm.
